My name is Erzsebet Kovacs, I grew up in a small village surrounded by woods, with a lake at its edge. Nature and water have always been part of my everyday life. Wherever I have lived since, I have found myself drawn to forests, shorelines, and the light of early mornings and late evenings.
My journey as an artist did not begin with painting, but with photography — a quiet way of noticing fleeting moments in the rush of everyday life. During the Covid lockdown in 2020, I picked up a paintbrush, using my own photographs as inspiration. What began as an experiment has gradually become an integral part of my life.
I now focus primarily on landscapes, inspired by the Thames Estuary where I live. I am drawn to softness rather than contrast, to muted colours — grey, cream, pale blue, sand, rust and ochre — that evoke water, sky and earth. Over time, my work has grown more abstract, shaped less by place and more by memory, light and atmosphere. I work on stretched canvases of all sizes, but large-scale paintings are closest to my heart. Each piece is created intuitively and exists as a single, original work — I never paint the same image twice.
When you collect a work from Tebeszre Art, you are not simply buying a painting. You are inviting calm, space and quiet into your home, while supporting an independent, living artist.
